Rules

Two things catch people out

The firewood rule is state law rather than ours, and the gate code is on your packet rather than on the sign. Everything else is on this page.

The important ones

What we ask

The two that catch people out

You genuinely cannot bring your own firewood from more than 50 miles away. It is a Minnesota state law rather than one of ours, and we do check. Buy it here at $9 a bundle, or in the village.

The gate closes at 10:00 pm and the code is on your packet, not on the sign. A late grocery run needs planning.

Quiet hours and the gate

Quiet hours are 10:00 pm to 7:00 am. The gate is coded and closed over the same hours; the code is on your packet and changes each season.

Arriving late? Call ahead and we will leave your packet and a site map in the box outside the office door, with the lamp on. The gate code is in the packet. Please arrive quietly and settle up in the morning.

Pets

Dogs and cats are welcome on sites, in the Birch cabins and in the Boathouse. Two per site or cabin, $5 per pet per night. No charge for service animals.

No breed restrictions — we judge the dog in front of us, not the paperwork. Leashed to six feet and attended outdoors, never left tied outside or alone in a cabin. The dog park is the only place off-leash is allowed.

Fires and fireworks

In the provided ring only, never left unattended, out cold before you sleep.

No fireworks anywhere on the property, including sparklers. The whole place is birch and pine.

Smoking, cannabis and alcohol

No smoking in any building, cabin or yurt. On your own site is fine — please use an ashtray, not the fire ring. Cannabis is legal in Minnesota and treated exactly like smoking: your own site only, never in a building, and never where it drifts onto a neighbour.

Alcohol is fine on your own site and at the beach. Not at the pool, not in the playground, and no glass anywhere near the water.

The rest

Everything else

Occupancy and vehicles

Six people maximum on a site, at least one an adult. One RV or two tents per site, not both. Tent campers who want a hookup site are welcome to book one at the site rate.

Two vehicles per site are included, both on the pad. Extra vehicles park in the day lot at $10 per night. Boat trailers park in the marked trailer row by the landing at no charge. Speed limit is 10 mph, and we do enforce it.

Visitors and children

Day visitors check in at the office and pay day use. Everyone off the property by 10:00 pm unless they are registered.

Under 12 need an adult with them at the pool, the beach and the boat landing. The playground and game room are fine unaccompanied for over-eights.

Looking after the site

No digging, no nails or screws in trees, no hanging anything from live branches. Clotheslines are fine on a portable rack. Leave the site the way you would want to find it.

RV and boat washing happens at the wash bay by the shop only, $10, not on your site. We are on a well and a drainfield.

Generators, drones and firearms

Generators only on the rustic loop, 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. They are not needed anywhere else, since every other site has power.

Drones are allowed before 9:00 am and after 7:00 pm, away from the beach, the pool and any site but your own. Not at all during a private event unless the couple has hired you.

Firearms secured and unloaded in your vehicle or unit. No discharge on the property, no exceptions.

Rigs and insurance

No rig age limit. We look at condition, not the year — send us a photo if your rig is over 20 years old and we will tell you straight away.

Insurance is not required for nightly stays. Seasonal sites and storage need current proof on file.

Being asked to leave

Once a season, and we do not enjoy it

Threatening behaviour, drug use in the open, driving over the speed limit after a warning, or repeated quiet-hours violations mean you leave the same day without a refund.

It happens about once a season and we do not enjoy it.
