Hollis Lake

A sand beach, two docks and a paved landing, all within the property. The swim area is roped and buoyed off the main beach, sand bottom, gradual to about 5 ft. No lifeguard — children under 12 need an adult at the water.

Marina slips, a kayak launch and a boat ramp. The shoreline is all lake; there are no ponds.

Licence sold at the store

Fishing

Walleye, northern pike, smallmouth and panfish. A Minnesota licence is required and we sell them. The cleaning station with running water is by the boat landing.

The pool

Heated, 20 by 40 ft, open 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, no lifeguard. Opens Memorial Day weekend and closes the weekend after Labor Day. No alcohol and no glass at the pool.

Games and courts

Playground, basketball, volleyball, horseshoes, cornhole, bocce, disc golf and open grass to throw something on.

Indoors

A game room, the rec hall, a TV lounge, a book library and the pavilion. The rec hall has a pool table, air hockey and a 60-seat main room.

Outdoors

A dog park, a pet wash, two miles of trail, wildlife, dark skies, fire rings at every site and a garden.

Rentals

Bikes, kayaks, paddleboards, tubes, fishing gear and firewood, all from the office. North Shore Outfitters in the village rents canoes.

Trails

Two miles of mowed and marked trail loop the back forty and connect to the county trail system at the northeast corner. Superior National Forest trailheads are 12 miles north for real hiking.

Hot dog night, the ice cream social, bingo and the pancake breakfast all run on a fixed week — here is what happens on which day. Fall is quiet, and that is when the trails are at their best.
